"Chronic Pain" from nerve damage is what most of our disabled Vets suffer from. This is just one example. It is not limited to soldiers. The working population, especially those who are at great risk of injury such as miners, railway workers, carpenters and other tradesmen are involved in accidents that cause this pain. Pills are not the answer. This Chronic Pain is debilitating making a person unfit for work or even normal daily functions. It consumes a person. There needs to be a multi disciplinary approach to treating pain. Combination therapies including Marijuana which should be a front line defence against Chronic Pain. Massage and Hydrotherapy. Chronic Pain causes 1. Depression 2. High Blood Pressure 3. Insomnia 4. Lack of mobility and isolation causing further weakness of muscle. 5. Inability to focus on tasks and many more harmful symptoms. This leads to suicides or a life of pain and misery with the added burden of poverty. Treating these symptoms with pills does not get at the root cause of the source which is the pain itself. We need a National dialogue on Chronic Pain and work toward creating facilities easily accessible to the military as well as public. Someone suffering Chronic Pain and it is not being treated at all is being tortured to death. From inside out. Even people in the most severe pain may seem healthy otherwise. They are. It is nerve damage to legs, arms, torso, head and neck, that cause this pain. Either by injury or disease. Let us look at the Science, come to conclusions, and solutions. Let us all be soldiers and attack pain. It is our basic right in this life not to be tortured with pain. Especially for years without a break. Nonstop pain. That is Chronic Pain. This is not only a political issue or legal or medical, it is a human rights issue. We cannot deny or delay care to a person suffering this way. It is inhumane. I hope you think so too and myself and others end this insurance model adversarial style disability system and evolve to an inquiry system whereby a diagnosis requires immediate treatment. I know what Chronic Pain is and can do. 34 year survivor. There are now millions of us suffering unbearably with this condition getting no relief. Many are slandered and called drug addicts seeking pills. Many are fighting Workers Compensation Insurance claims and while appealing get no care. Many have no insurance. We need every weapon we have as a society to conquer Chronic Pain. Let us use what is available and attack on all fronts.

How can a Canadian citizen permanently disabled and unemployable at his previous occupations(s) ever get treated fairly, when both the Canada Health Act and our WCB Acts remove our basic rights? The answer is no justice can be gotten by the injured forced, yes forced, into needless appeals. What government may not realize is that the WCB's, all of them, use these loopholes in the law to deny claims with immunity from having to pay legislated benefits, including providing medical care, wage loss, follow up treatments, retraining that would enable a person to reach their potential and restore them to the workforce, or any other measure that would be a benefit to the individual and society as a whole. So whose fault is it that this discrimination in society is permitted by government? Why government itself of course. They have created this discrimination by such clear and obvious legislation completely against the wishes of the pe...
